Boiling Dried Peanuts

I kept trying to get soft boiled peanuts from dried peanuts, without success. One winter on vacation in Florida I was told by a roadside boiled peanut stand to cook them until tender then add the salt. They said if the salt is added to dry peanuts in the beginning, they won’t get completely soft. When I got home in Ohio I tried it and it worked.
