My Grandma, from Dothan Alabama, told me, "You put in enough salt so your water tastes like you want your peanuts." That seemed so obvious after she said it.
Comments for Use This Much Salt for Boiled Peanuts
Steve,
Great advice from your Grandma. Sometimes the obvious eludes us. The concentration of salt in the water is essential to great tasting boiled peanuts.
I was born, and raised in Dothan, Alabama. I learned to boil peanuts with my Dad. He taught me that both green raw peanuts (fresh dug, and moist), and dried raw peanuts could be boiled with good results.
The quality of the raw peanuts, the salinity of the water used, and time are the essential factors when boiling peanuts.
