Dr. Carver used many parts from peanut plants to manufacture these things, not just the peanuts. The roots, stems, leaves, and shells of peanut plants contain materials that Dr. Carver extracted and processed to make useful products. Farmers spend lots of money, time, labor, water and other resources to grow peanut plants. We eat only the peanuts. What happens to the rest of the plant? By manufacturing common, useful items from the rest of the plant we waste less and get more benefit from the resources invested into the plants. It's more earth friendly.
